Food is one way human survive but eating right is the best way to survive as the fittest. There are varieties of food for our everyday consumption but then, food which is meant for growth can also be the cause of problem for many if not well chosen and eaten right. For different categories of people like infants, youth, adult, pregnant mother, lactating mother, the obese, aged, sedentary work and even the sick, there are food that should be consumed which is why eating should be well planned. In a world where people do all most everything in arush, healthy eating is not part of the plans as people throw into their mouthanything they can easily grab all in the name of filling up their belly beatinghunger forgetting that whatever they consume is what build up their body. People fill themselves up on fast-food, processed food with no nutritionalvalue, creating a habit of unhealthy dieting.

The word‘dieting’ has mostly been associated with eating in order to lose or gain weight but that it is not the whole definition of dieting. Dieting is the practice of eating food in a regulated fashion for the development, improvement or maintenance of overall health; eating right is healthy dieting. Dieting should be a consistent practice; taking breakfast, lunch and dinner at the right time and eating the right food. For best diet food, there should be planning which does not necessarily have to be strict or overly complicated but is dependent on the category one falls in as listed above. But for all the categories, food must have nutritional value, providing the body with essential fluid, macronutrients, micronutrients and adequate calories; a balance of protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, water, and minerals in our diet to maintain a healthy body.

Food that is widely consumed now lack in nutrition but is heavy in calories and cholesterol which are major causes of a number of chronic diseases including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, overweight/obesity and even cancer. Eating should be with the consciousness of improving your health, boosting yourenergy and feeling good. While some specific food have been recommended to bebeneficial to our health what matters most is the pattern and consistency.

Eating healthy is as important as breathing, you don’t have to be perfect and strict about it because it is definitely not easy trying to come up with what and how to eat. Below are tips that for necessary for healthy eating:

Drink plenty of water

Water is what everyone cannot do without because apart from quenching our thirst, it prevents dehydration. Water flushes your system of waste and toxins. Take water when you wake up in the morning for easier bowel movement, take water before, during and after meal for easier digestion. At least, you must consume one gallon of water per day. It is wrong to take water only when you’re thirsty or as a means to fill your stomach when you’re hungry.

Do not skip breakfast

The important meal of the day is breakfast and must not be missed. Continuous skipping of breakfast can cause ulcer and lack of energy.

Protein is important

Very important in our meal is protein. Protein can be added to our meal at any time of the day. Fish, egg, beans are important for repairing and maintaining.

Avoid eating late at night

Eating late at night is common among students and people who work late into the night. They tend to munch on snack and lots of water which can cause indigestion or discomfort while sleeping. Try to eat dinner earlier and let the space between the next meals, which is breakfast be up to 14-16 hours, studies have shown that eating when you’re most active aids digestions.

More fruit and vegetable

Studies have shown that people can do without vegetable and snack in a week which is unhealthy. Fruits and vegetables are low in calories but high packed with antioxidants, fiber, minerals and vitamins. Eat fruits in the morning, replace your chocolates and biscuits with oranges, banana, apple and lots more fruits.The good thing about fruit is that there are a whole load of variety with different tastes so you cannot get tired with them.

Smaller potions

 Because you enjoy the food does not mean you should load your plate with it and even have more helping! Moderation is key. Though it is important to fill your stomach especially for breakfast so you can stay energized for the day, it is also more important that you watch what you eat so you don’t have problem with digestion and feeling heavy then you are unable to accomplish anything

Slow down

As much as you enjoy the food and would love to put it all in your stomach or you have better things to do like getting ready for a meeting or class than to sit down and enjoy your meal, take your time. Relish the taste and feeling you get from it. Do not be in a hurry to just eat and go but rather take your time and relax afterwards.

Less snack in the fridge and on the dining table

As sweet as they taste, they do to our body no sweet thing. Limit how much you consume them, do not take them as meal. Chocolate, sweet, biscuits are harmful to the body, lessen the consumption. It is easier to eat these food when we are in an emotional state of mind like happiness, depression, sadness but do not let it take over your eating plan

Avoid processed food

Easily prepared and consumed, fast-food which include noodles, pizza, bread and others are high in calories, causing obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Prepare your meal, and be aware of the nutritional value,

Focus on your meal

Eating and doing other thing especially watching TV, reading or operating our phone can cause mindless eating so focus on your meal.
